The startup that won the Palmerston North Startup Weekend yesterday – What’s 4 Lunch? – gets children helping with food preparation using a mobile application and website. The application provides videos and photos with information about food and the ingredients that go into it. It’s designed to get kids eating healthy and make mealtimes better for children and parents.

Ten teams had formed at the event by yesterday morning. The Friendsafe team won the open data prize, which was for an app that uses local open data sources.

The judges gave an honourable mention to Little Helper Books, which allows parents to create games, apps and ebooks in which their child is a character, to help them deal with difficult situations.
